Thanksgiving  Day  or Thanksgiving

presently celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, has been anannual tradition in the USA  since 1863.

 

Origin of Thanksgiving Day

Did you knowthat the First Thanksgiving was celebrated to give thanks to God for helping  the Pilgrims survive the brutal winter.

Did you knowthat the Pilgrims trip to the New World aboard the Mayflower lasted 65 days? It was a cold and damp journey, and since the ship was wooden, passengers were not allowed to light a fire for warmth and cooking their food.

Did you knowthat as many 107 million American homes will celebrate Thanksgiving this year?

 Did you know that the first Thanksgiving feast lasted three days providing enough food for 53 pilgrims and 90 Indians.

The main sign of Thanksgiving Day  in the USA and Canada is a large meal, generally centered around a large roasted turkey .
